Safety and reporting
How to protect yourself on OYRO, how to report, and what happens next. This page also says what OYRO cannot do.
What you control
- Block: immediate, with no review and no delay. The person can no longer contact you, see you, or know they are blocked.
- Remove yourself from search: Settings → Privacy. Only people who have your OYRO Code can then add you.
- Choose who sees your Moments, and hide someone without blocking them.
- Turn off read receipts and the “typing…” signal.
- Mute an author whose Moments you no longer want to see, without telling them.
- Take your data, or delete your account, from the settings.
What OYRO cannot do
OYRO cannot stop someone from keeping what you send them. The app detects screenshots where the platform allows it and warns the sender, but a photo of the screen taken with another phone leaves no trace. No application in the world solves this. The only real protection is choosing who you send to.
What happens when you report
- Your report is sent with a category and, if you want, a few words.
- The content concerned is kept for up to 90 days so that a person can review it, even once it has disappeared from the app. It is readable only by moderation.
- The reported person is not notified and will not learn who reported them.
- A decision is made: content removed, warning, suspension, closure — or the report is dismissed, which is also a decision.
- Cases putting a minor at risk are handled as a priority.
If it is urgent
OYRO is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, call the emergency services.
- In France: 15 (medical), 17 (police), 112 (European emergency number), 114 (by SMS, for deaf and hard-of-hearing people).
- 3114 — psychological distress and suicide prevention, free, day and night.
- 119 — children at risk, free, day and night.
- 3018 — online violence and cyberbullying, free.
- Outside France, look up your country’s emergency numbers: these only work in France.
